Elon Musk just gave us a glimpse of the wild horses that roam near Tesla's Gigafactory
Tesla's massive Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada is the core of CEO Elon Musk's various operations, so it's no surprise he makes time to visit when he can.
Musk stopped by the Gigafactory on Wednesday and gave us a nice glimpse of the plant's breathtaking scenery. The factory is surrounded by mountains and wild horses can regularly be seen roaming the hillside.

This isn't the first time we've seen the mustangs playing on the hills. The Associated Press also saw the wild creatures in 2014 when Tesla first broke ground on the giant battery plant.

The Gigafactory will play a key role in helping Tesla meet its lofty goal of producing 500,000 vehicles annually in 2018, a five-fold production increase. The electric car maker is producing its lithium-ion batteries at the plant as part of a partnership with Panasonic.
The $5 billion plant doesn't only supply the batteries for the Model S, Model X, and newly released Model 3 vehicles. It also supports Tesla's growing energy division, which develops the company's at-home battery, the Powerwall , and commercial battery, the Powerpack .
The Gigafactory is currently operational, but isn't expected to be fully operational until 2020. When it's finished, the factory will be the world's largest building by footprint at 5.5 million square feet.

Elon Musk says Tesla's batteries could replace Puerto Rico's electrical system (TSLA)
Reuters/Jonathan Drake
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company's batteries and solar panels could help restore electricity to Puerto Rico if residents and the government decide they want to pursue that option.
Musk said on Twitter Thursday that Tesla has already used a combination of its solar panels and Powerpack batteries to power a couple of small islands. He said that there is "no scalability limit" and that Tesla could build a similar system in Puerto Rico.

The Tesla team has done this for many smaller islands around the world, but there is no scalability limit, so it can be done for Puerto Rico too. Such a decision would be in the hands of the PR govt, PUC, any commercial stakeholders and, most importantly, the people of PR.
The island of Ta’u in American Samoa can run entirely on solar energy thanks to a Tesla microgrid that consists of 5,328 solar panels and 60 Powerpack batteries. Tesla also built a massive solar farm on the Hawaiian island of Kauai  that can account for 20% of the island's peak electricity load.
Tesla has already sent hundreds of Powerwalls to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. The category 4 storm knocked out power for the entire island's 3.5 million residents, and the island  may not get power again for another six months .

Puerto Rico's governor may take up Elon Musk's offer to use Tesla batteries to rebuild the island's electrical system (TSLA)
Tesla
Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello may take up Tesla CEO Elon Musk's offer to rebuild the island's electrical system using Tesla's massive batteries and solar panels.
Musk said Thursday that Tesla could use its Powerpack batteries and solar panels to restore electricity to Puerto Rico. Tesla has already built similar systems on smaller islands like Ta'u in American Samoa , which can now run entirely on solar power.

Musk delays Tesla Semi unveil to focus on Model 3, Puerto Rico
Tesla admittedly went into fall with a lot on the to-do list, but CEO Elon Musk, who also runs SpaceX and SolarCity, may be rearranging plans in order to keep everything in order. Musk tweeted Friday the Tesla Semi truck unveiling, once planned for October 26th, would now take place November 16th.
The Semi timing was shuffled, Musk said, in part to get production of the Tesla Model 3 back on schedule. Last week, the company admitted “production bottlenecks” meant only 260 Model 3s had been built so far, off of the 1,500 target. However, there’s also another reason — Musk may be gearing up to have Tesla help Puerto Rico , still devastated by Hurricane Maria, restore power to the island:

Book Recommendation: Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future
Book Recommendation: Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future
AoiroStudio Oct 07, 2017
Let's kickstart the Weekend with a book recommendation that I profoundly finished a couple days ago. I wasn't into books until I had more free time on my hands; I also forgot how important it is to read and educate yourself through lecture instead of curated content. There are many reasons why it's still great to allow time to read. Now let's take a look at my book recommendation which is about one of the greatest innovator of our time, that is constantly owning the vision of the future. Let's take a look at Elon Musk, commonly known as CEO and product architect of Tesla Inc . You will read about his hardship and stories about his previous (and actual) ventures including: SpaceX , SolarCity , X.com and a lot more. I've learned a lot from this pure fascinating character and it's a guaranteed reading joy for everyone. Give it a read!

There are few industrialists in history who could match Elon Musk's relentless drive and ingenious vision. A modern alloy of Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Howard Hughes, and Steve Jobs, Musk is the man behind PayPal, Tesla Motors, SpaceX, and SolarCity, each of which has sent shock waves throughout American business and industry. More than any other executive today, Musk has dedicated his energies and his own vast fortune to inventing a future that is as rich and far-reaching as a science fiction fantasy.

Google and Tesla have plans to help rebuild Puerto Rico
As Puerto Rico and its people continue to reel from the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria, two of the world's biggest tech companies have outlined plans for bringing power back to the Caribbean island and US territory.
First up Google has just nabbed a temporary license for it to provide an emergency cell network across Puerto Rico using its Project Loon technology - that's where giant, floating balloons are used to get connectivity out to remote areas that lack the usual internet and cell tower infrastructure.
As Puerto Ricans try and rebuild their lives, that sort of data service could be vital - According to the latest figures, 83 percent of cell sites are still out of action on the island. The X innovations team that runs Project Loon, which was spun out of Google, now needs to finalize a telecomms firm to partner with.
Turning the lights back on
When it comes to power, Tesla boss Elon Musk wants to get the lights back on in Puerto Rico using a solar power grid designed by his company - the entrepreneur said on Twitter that projects completed on smaller islands could be scaled up.
Puerto Rico governor Ricardo Rossello seems open to the idea but there will be a few regulatory and political hurdles to overcome first before Tesla's SolarCity firm can get to work. Currently around 10 percent of residents on the island have power.
Musk has previously promised to send some of Tesla's SolarCity batteries over to Puerto Rico, and has in fact now pushed back the unveiling date for the forthcoming Tesla Semi electric truck so that more resources can be diverted to the stricken island.
Here's more on that self-driving electric truck we're expecting from Tesla
