Here’s the new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story
Yesterday afternoon, word started spreading that a new — and perhaps final — trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story would land this evening. Sometime during American Idol, they said… of course without saying exactly when.
Turns out: now.
You can see it here:
I had my doubts after the last trailer, but I’m loving this one. Donald Glover as young Lando is just perfect.
The trailer roll-out for Solo started a bit later than most expected, presumably because of the relatively late director swap out. Ron Howard took over the film’s metaphorical cockpit in June of last year — about four months into production — after the original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (also the directors of The Lego Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and 21 Jump Street) were taken off the project. Howard’s changes, while still mostly a mystery, reportedly involved weeks of reshoots.
Howard tweeted at the end of March that his edits were “locked” – as of this morning, meanwhile, they were mixing the musical score.
Whatever Howard ended up changing, the film will almost certainly end up as yet another point of debate amongst the fanbase. When you’re tinkering with the backstory of a character like Han Solo (and Lando!), with fans that have watched the originals a billion times, contention is a given.

Watch the latest trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story
Disney has released a new trailer for its upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, giving us a look at the next standalone installment of the Star Wars franchise.
The trailer gives us our best look at what the film is about. The trailer opens with Qi’Ra (played by Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke) asking Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) if he’s after revenge, money, or something else. Before long, Han is recruited for a job: telling Woody Harrelson’s Tobias Beckett, that he’s a driver and that he’s waited a long time for “a shot like this.” The film certainly has the feel of a heist story: we see Han, Qi’Ra, and Tobias recruit a very suave Lando Calrissian (“Everything you’ve heard about me is true.”), while Beckett tells Han that once he joins, he’s...

New 'Solo' trailer has landed and, uh, we're all fine here, how are you
We've got a good feeling about this — or at least, Han Solo does.
You may have forgotten that Solo: A Star Wars Story is out next month, since Disney and Lucasfilm haven't done all that much marketing for the spin-off film since its first trailer dropped after the Super Bowl in February.
SEE ALSO: 'Solo' trailer breakdown: Why we have a bad feeling about this Star Wars spin-off
But that changed Sunday, when a new Solo trailer arrived during American Idol on Disney-owned ABC.
The trailer focuses on the basic plot of the film — which is not just a "young Han Solo" prequel, but a heist movie, evidently. We see such moments as Han (Alden Ehrenreich)'s first meeting with Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), and his discovery that Chewbacca is a 190-year-old Wookiee who can pilot a spaceship just fine, thank you very much.  Read more...

New Star Wars Han Solo Movie Trailer Is The Best Yet
The next Star Wars movie, a standalone spinoff centered on Han Solo, opens in theatres next month. Disney today released a new trailer for it--and it's pretty spectacular. The trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, as it's officially called, provides one of the best looks yet at the anticipated sci-fi movie. We also see some Destiny-like enemies, while more details are revealed about pretty much all the major characters. There is also a particularly fantastic battle sequence near the end. Check it out in the video embed above.
Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Donald Glover as Lando, along with Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke. It hits theaters on May 25, 2018. Solo is directed by Ron Howard, who took over from Phil Lord and Chris Miller after they were fired from the production in May last year. Recently, it was confirmed that Howard will be credited as the movie's sole director , with Lord and Miller taking executive producer credits.
Howard also took to social media recently to update fans on the film's progress. The director posted an image on Twitter of him watching it, and wrote: "Final stages of [post production] on #Solo. It's gratifying to see everybody’s dedication to this story--going back to 2012--adding up in such a fun and satisfying way. So much talent involved."
A slick new poster for Solo: A Star Wars Story has also arrived. Check it out below.

In related news, it was announced in February the Jungle Book director Jon Favreau will direct a new live-action Star Wars TV show . The series is set to premiere of Disney's streaming platform , which launches next year. This is in addition to the two new Star Wars movie series in the work, one from Last Jedi director Rian Johnson , the other overseen by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss .

New trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story serves up plenty to Chewie on
If you’ve got an insatiable thirst for Solo that needs quenching, you’re in luck – the first full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars story has Lando'd (hehe) and it shows a whole lot more than the first , second and third teasers released prior to this.
Right off the bat, there's a real space Western vibe to the trailer that recalls Firefly (even though that show was directly inspired by Han Solo's antics in the original Star Wars trilogy), with some twanging guitar and a Sergio Leone-style standoff where Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and his trusty blaster prepare to quick-draw against more than a dozen bounty hunters.
We also get a lot more Chewbacca, including a scene where Han is shocked to learn his fuzzy sidekick’s actual age, and another where the walking carpet is sharing a tender moment with what appears to be his Wookiee lady friend (could it be his wife, Mallatobuck?).
He did it all for the Wookiee
Along with the greatly-appreciated focus on Chewbacca, the trailer also offers a better look at Donald Glover's smooth-talking Lando Calrissian, and even introduces a surly new droid named L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge).
Perhaps the most intriguing new element shown is the film's scarred-up crime boss villain, Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany), who is seen wielding what appears to be double-sided lightsaber-edged karambit blades.
If you were sceptical about Solo: A Star Wars Story based on its first few teasers, you might find yourself feeling a bit more confident about the film after watching the funny and action-packed trailer below.
At least we won't have to wait much longer to find out if the movie is any good – we'll be able to watch it for ourselves when it releases on May 25, 2018.

New Solo trailer: “I’ve got a really good feeling about this.”

If you're one of those people who must not know a single detail about the Solo movie before seeing it, DO NOT READ THIS POST. It briefly discusses the trailer, and you may learn something about the plot or casting of the film you did not wish to know. Then again, if you are that sensitive to spoilers ruining your cinematic experience, you should not even have clicked this post to watch the trailer in the first place.
On Sunday night, Disney dropped a new trailer for the forthcoming Han Solo biopic Solo. Set years before we meet the galaxy's most irrepressible smuggler in A New Hope, it will be the second non-trilogy (or non-nonology, if we're being accurate) movie set in the Star Wars* universe, following the smash hit Rogue One from 2016. Free of the restraining bolt that is the main franchise and the main plot thread it drags along, these (sort of) standalone movies give Disney the chance to tell slightly different stories in the Star Wars universe. Rogue One mixed elements of espionage thrillers and gritty war movies; Solo looks set to mix up Westerns and the good old heist caper.
The new trailer gives us a better look at how Han Solo is played by Alden Ehrenreich, who managed to hold his own in the Coen Brother's red scare Hail, Caesar! The journey from bright-eyed pilot to scruffy looking nerf-herder looks like it happens on a number of different worlds, and I'm pretty sure it involves a robbery on the kind of weird-looking train that only makes practical sense in the Star Wars universe.

The best details from the new 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' trailer, from Donald Glover to a sarcastic new droid
A new full-length trailer for "Solo: A Star Wars Story" dropped Sunday night, and it features plenty of new footage.
The trailer shows more of Alden Ehrenreich as the title character, a young Han Solo — a character made famous in the original "Star Wars" trilogy by Harrison Ford.
It also gives us more of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian (who steals the show), and a better glimpse at the worlds and action audiences will witness during the movie (the Kessel Run, perhaps?). Also, there's probably a love interest for Chewbacca.
We've broken down the new trailer and highlighted its best moments and the questions it raises, from a sarcastic new droid to a look at Paul Bettany's villain.
"Solo" comes to theaters next month after a troubled production. Original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired over creative differences and replaced by veteran director Ron Howard, who, according to an actor in the film , made filming run a lot smoother.
Despite the obstacles, "Solo" not only kept its May 25 release date, but it's premiering at the Cannes Film Festival  on May 15.
Below is our breakdown of the new "Solo: A Star Wars Story" trailer:
Han always shoots first. Disney/Lucasfilm
It looks like Han Solo's shooting skills are going to be put to the test in this scene early in the trailer (and maybe early in the movie, since it doesn't look like any of other characters are with him yet). The trailer alludes to the idea that Han might be after these guys for revenge. Revenge for what?

Any time Donald Glover shows up is worth mentioning. Disney/Lucasfilm
We can already tell that Donald Glover — who plays a young Lando Calrissian — is going to be a highlight in "Solo," and might even overshadow the title character. Glover steals the show in this new trailer.

"Or is it something else?" Disney/Lucasfilm
"You're after something. Is it revenge? Money? Or is it something else?"
Emilia Clarke's character Qi'ra tells this to Han, and the voiceover for that last part is during this shot of Han and Chewbacca staring up at the Millennium Falcon. It's a nice signal that Han may be a smuggler, but in his heart, he's in it for the adventure more than vengeance or money.

Let’s break down the new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story
The latest trailer for Solo: A Star Wars story has hit the web , and it’s our best look at the film yet. As with any new trailer for a Star Wars film, there’s a lot to see and unpack for fans of the franchise, so as we did with the first teaser , let’s break down what we saw.
Warning: there are spoilers and plenty of speculation for Solo ahead.
Image: Disney / Lucasfilm
The opening shots are of a night-lit, industrial-looking city, and one of the first things we see is a Star Destroyer under construction. We’ve seen shots like this in the last trailer: a younger Han (Alden Ehrenreich) and Qi’Ra (Emilia Clarke) riding around the streets at a young age, which makes me think that this is Corellia, Han’s home planet. The New Solo Trailer Teases a Major Star Wars Twist

It doesn’t look like young Han Solo is going to waste any time kickstarting his smuggling career in Solo: A Star Wars Story .
In a second trailer for the movie that debuted on Sunday, Alden Ehrenreich’s Han is shown joining forces with both old and new galaxy far, far away faces — including Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke’s Qi’Ra — for a mission that appears to involve an action-packed train robbery.
The preview features a number of nods to the original Star Wars trilogy, from the card game in which Han won the Millennium Falcon to his famous “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” quip. But it’s a line from newcomer Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) that seems to allude to one of the franchise’s biggest twists.
“Let me give you some advice,” he tells Han. “Assume everyone will betray you and you’ll never be disappointed.”
This tip seems to directly hint at the moment in The Empire Strikes Back when Han learns that Lando has sold him out to Darth Vader on Cloud City. Although it could also mean that Solo will see Han suffer an earlier betrayal at the hands of someone he trusts, like his childhood friend Qi’Ra .

Lego’s new TIE fighter for Solo: A Star Wars Story shows how sophisticated the toys have become
In 1999, Danish toy company Lego made a huge announcement: it had signed a license with Lucasfilm Ltd. to produce a series of toys based on the Star Wars films, the first time in the company’s history that it made such a deal. The move wasn’t without major qualms within the company; for decades, it had eschewed such deals, but competition from other toy brands loomed, and company officials worried about being overtaken. The decision would ultimately propel Lego to become one of the largest toy companies in the world .
In the intervening two decades, Star Wars Lego kits have become a core product for the company, with new kits featuring hundreds of characters, ships, and locations from the franchise being rolled out annually. With...

'Star Wars' inspired 9/11 terrorists, says Margaret Atwood
Margaret Atwood, author of dystopian classics The Handmaid's Tale and Oryx and Crake, is widely considered one of the world's greatest living novelists. She is not, however, considered the world's greatest movie critic.
That much became clear Tuesday after Atwood attempted to draw a connection between the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, and ... the plot of the original 1977 Star Wars?
