'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' teaser trailer is finally here
It's going to be a Force-filled Friday: Lucasfilm has finally dropped the long-awaited first trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII, also known as The Last Jedi. And millions of fans around the world are already dissecting every second.
The movie picks up exactly where The Force Awakens left off with a cliffhanger on the cliffs of the planet Ahch-To, where Luke Skywalker had gone — and covered his tracks — in search of the first Jedi temple. But Rey disturbs that retirement by presenting Luke with his original lightsaber, the one lost on Bespin in The Empire Strikes Back.

Here's the Teaser Trailer for 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'
Here's the first teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, which looks to be another Good entry into a Good series of movies that you're probably familiar with. Most importantly, we have what we believe to be the first line of dialogue from Luke Skywalker since Return of the Jedi. This is Luke talking, right?
We've got no new answers from the trailer, only new questions...Is Luke still the Last Jedi? Is Rey? Why do we need the Jedi to end and what comes next? Having just binge-watched all of the movies but didn't know this trailer was coming out, I must say A surprise, to be sure, but not an unwelcome one.
And here's the first official poster, via StarWars.com .

Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s first trailer is here
Our first look at The Last Jedi has arrived. Today at Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm debuted the trailer for for the long-awaited sequel to The Force Awakens.
There’s a lot to take in from this brief teaser. Much of the action is set on Ahch-To, the planet that Rey discovered Luke on at the end of the previous film, and it appears that she’s spending some time there training. At the end, Luke has a foreboding message: “It’s time for the Jedi to end.”
In addition to Rey and Luke, there are glimpses of Finn in a pod (presumably still healing from his wounds), Poe Dameron running to his fighter, which is caught in an explosion, and a couple of big battles: one on the ground against what looks like First Order Walkers, and a dogfight...

Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer is basically an explosion of awesome
The first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is amazing. I mean, did you really think they would make a crappy trailer?
Disney just dropped the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi as part of this week's Star Wars Celebration in Orlando. (You can watch a livestream of the Last Jedi panel here .) Suffice it to say that it looks amazing and delivers pretty much everything you'd want in a teaser—just a peek with extremely low spoiler levels.
First of all, our main characters are back. We catch a glimpse of Finn in some kind of medical pod, looking alive and well. Poe is in full hunky resistance fighter mode racing around with BB-8. Kylo is glowering out of the shadows like a Marilyn Manson fan circa 1995. And the Millennium Falcon is swooping around like the modded, overclocked machine that she is. There are snippets of battles and one shot of a fantastic-looking flight across the surface of a planet where giant red plumes arc out of the desert floor behind some ships. It looks very Mad Max: Fury Road, and I mean that as a high compliment.
Best of all, at least to this viewer, we see Luke doing what appear to be Yoda-esque "use the Force" exercises with Rey on the island where we left them at the end of The Force Awakens. Rey is learning to levitate little rocks and using her mind to feel the balance of light and dark in the Force. (Tearful moment as we glimpse the back of Leia's head when Rey mentions "the light.") There are also some ancient books and maps in Luke's monk cave, which is interesting—I don't recall seeing any Jedi books in paper form before, though we saw lots of augmented reality classrooms in previous films.

'The Last Jedi' poster has a striking similarity to 2 iconic 'Star Wars' posters
Disney/Lucasfilm
The INSIDER Summary:
Lucasfilm released the first teaser poster for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." It shows Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren faces split down the middle by a lightsaber held by Rey.  The artwork looks like a remix of posters for "A New Hope" and "Revenge of the Jedi," before it was renamed "The Return of the Jedi."

Disney and Lucasfilm released the first teaser poster for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," and if you're a fan of the series it looks awfully familiar.
Disney unveiled the first poster at "Star Wars: Celebration" in Orlando, Florida Friday morning.
Take a look at it.
Disney/Lucasfilm
The poster shows Luke Skywalker, his nephew Kylo Ren, and Rey front and center. Luke and his nephew's faces are split down the middle by, what we presume is, Luke's original blue lightsaber that Rey acquired in "The Force Awakens."
If you started getting nostalgic vibes, it's because it feels like a partial homage to one of the posters for the original "Star Wars" film.
Take a look:
Fox
In the poster, Luke is brandishing the lightsaber against the looming presence of Darth Vader, who we later learn is his father. Is "The Last Jedi" trailer trying to hint that Rey is the source of hope for the galaxy not only against Kylo Ren, but also Luke Skywalker? Skywalker, like Vader, is also the largest figure on the new teaser poster. Is it also suggesting a parental relationship between Skywalker and Rey? We'll have to wait to find out.
Here are the two side by side.
Fox/Lucasfilm
But that's not the only poster "The Last Jedi" resembles. It also looks like the original poster for "Star Wars: Episode VI," back when it was called "Revenge of the Jedi." The title was changed weeks before the film's release because creator George Lucas pointed out that it's against the Jedi way for them to seek revenge. It was later renamed "Return of the Jedi."
The poster for "Revenge of the Jedi" is shrouded in red.
20th Century Fox
The only hint of light comes from a lightsaber battle between Luke and Darth Vader, creating a purple hue, similar to the one seen at the center of "The Last Jedi" poster. Both "The Last Jedi" and "Empire Strikes Back" are the second films in "Star Wars" trilogies.
Here are those two posters side by side.
20th Century Fox/Disney, Lucasfilm
Finally, take a look at all three.
Fox, Disney/Lucasfilm
Shortly after unveiling the new poster, Disney and Lucasfilm debuted the first trailer for "The Last Jedi." You can view it here . "The Last Jedi" will be in theaters this December.
A previous version of this story incorrectly stated "Revenge of the Jedi" was the original title for "Empire Strikes Back."

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' trailer: What does it all mean?
The second movie of the original Star Wars trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back, focused on Luke Skywalker's Jedi training.
So it makes sense that The Last Jedi, the second movie of the sequel trilogy, would focus on Luke training the still mysterious Rey.
Image: lucasfilm
"Breathe," Luke says at the start of the teaser trailer that dropped Friday, after Rey doubles over on the rocks of Ahch-To and does just that — breathing too hard, too fast. Just like Finn in The Force Awakens trailer, in fact.
That opened with a vista of sand; this time we get an unhurried close-up of rock. Rock that Rey now has the power to lift in the air, just as Luke once made boulders float for his master, Yoda. Read more...

A play-by-play of the new 'Star Wars' trailer for people who can't watch it
Here’s a description of exactly what happens.
Sometimes people with real jobs can’t watch movie trailers at work because a) they’re actually working or b) their bosses sit really close to them. If you are one of those people, don’t worry: My coworkers and I watched it at our office for you, because Star Wars is sports.
I will now describe what happens in the trailer so that you can feel like you’ve seen it, even if you haven’t. But here’s the trailer, if you’d rather just watch it. Consider this your parachute ripcord if you want to avoid the rest of this blog:
Still here? Welp, let’s enter this free-fall together, then.
I’m not going to give you any context other than to just describe what is going on so that you can really feel like you’re watching it, too.
A DESCRIPTION OF THE STAR WARS TRAILER WITH NO CONTEXT OTHER THAN TO DESCRIBE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS
We begin in darkness. Ominous music plays. All of a sudden, we cut to Rey, who appears to have just landed on a rock from a fall. She’s wearing gray sweater sleeves that do not appear to be connected to the sweater itself, her hair is kind of messed up (but, like, sexy messed up), and she’s breathing hard.
Now we are soaring over what looks like an ocean, approaching what I’m pretty sure is an island made of rock, because most islands are, and also Rey fell onto a rock moments ago. I took Geology 101 junior year of college to fulfill the science requirement, so I’m basically an expert: Please believe me when I tell you this rock is definitely volcanic.
Rey is standing on Volcanic Rock Island looking out at the sea.
A man’s voice kind of whispers, “What do you see?” as the camera pans over the back of an old woman or man’s head. Well, sir, now I see a smoldering pile of rubbish, because that’s what the camera zooms in on next. Now I see more darkness. Now a light is shining on a map and it looks like Mordor but I know it isn’t because this is Star Wars: The Last Jedi, not Lord of the Rings: The Fifth Million Film.
We’re back on Geology 101 Island, where Rey, in her Bill Belichick-sleeve sweater, is practicing her lightsaber skills on a cliff overlooking the sea. It looks pretty dope, if a little lonely.
“THIS CHRISTMAS” flashes onto the screen.
Now we see big-ass drones flying across a desert. They’re shooting out red stuff, so they look like they’re bleeding. Now there’s a guy in a space suit. Now there’s another guy in a space suit, and he’s running through the halls of a space castle, I’m pretty sure. Now more hovercrafts are shooting stuff.
Darth Vader and some other Bad Dudes with lightsabers show up briefly to march across more darkness. R2D2 is also there. He’s standing in front of civilization, which appears to be burning, which feels less like a Sci Fi film and more like our current global reality.
Soaring music plays, and “STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI” flashes across the screen.
The trailer ends.
I don’t have any thoughts beyond the fact that I still have no idea what to expect from this movie besides lots of darkness and drones, but here are a few key takeaways from my colleagues:
Ryan Nanni: “My prime takeaway is don’t run with a lightsaber.”
Seth Rosenthal: “But do practice your lightsaber skills on a beachside cliff.”
Ryan: “I mean, all you can take away is that if you become a Jedi, you will eventually go off the grid. You become some back-woodsy guy who’s like, ‘Yeah, I keep gold under my bed.”
Seth: “All Jedis read Infowars.”
Ryan: “Jedis don’t have checking accounts.”
Seth: “They’re like, ‘Ever heard of bitcoin?’”
Ryan: “They’re like, ‘I live by myself in some remote-ass destination.’”
And there you have it folks! A complete description and some brilliant analysis of the new Star Wars trailer! Happy Friday!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Teaser Trailer Breakdown

Star Wars Episode 8, otherwise known at The Last Jedi, isn't due out until December this year. But at the recently held Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando, director Rian Johnson and the film's cast revealed the very first teaser trailer for the sure to be upcoming box office juggernaut.
Sure, it's only a teaser, so there aren't major plot details revealed. But this teaser does confirm a lot of fan theories, as well as give all of us a tantalising glimpse at what's in store for Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, BB-8, Kylo Ren, and even the reclusive Luke Skywalker. It looks like Skywalker will indeed take on the role of mentor to Rey, training her on that mysterious planet that we saw in the very last shot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But what other secrets and plot details does this teaser trailer hold? Let's dive in to find out.

Hello Rey! The first shot of this teaser shows a rock, before Rey's hand slams down on it and the camera moves up to reveal her stressed face. This is the costume that we last saw Rey in, when she arrived on the planet Ahch-To to confront the reclusive Luke Skywalker at the end of The Force Awakens. Is this the start of Rey's formal Jedi training? Luke's voiceover during the next section seems to lend credence to this fact, as he says: "Breathe. Just breathe. Now, reach out. What do you see?"

Waves are crashing on Ahch-To as Rey stands pensively looking out to the horizon. This island Luke has stationed himself on looks pretty desolate, which begs the question: where does he get all his supplies from? Is there more to this island than just being a bare rock with no trees?

Yep, Rey is totally using the Force here. Is she sitting cross-legged in the background, though? Is this within the same scene as the previous shot, and therefore could possibly be part of Luke's training?

Here, apparently, is the start of Rey's answer to Luke when he asks: "What do you see?" This is General Leia Organa, standing in front of some sort of star map on the bridge of a ship. and if you listen very, very closely to the audio at this point, you can faintly hear the line: "Help me, Obi-Wan." Is that merely a callback to the original trilogy? Or does it have some deeper meaning?

This looks to be Kylo Ren's destroyed helmet. The panels behind it hint that this location being some sort of First Order facility, but what exactly has happened here? Is this a flashback to the previous film and Starkiller Base? And there's another audio hint playing softly here, with what sounds like Obi-Wan Kenobi saying "Seduced by the dark side". Again, what's the link?

Is this some sort of bookshelf? Our guess would be that this is within Luke's home on Ahch-To. But what exactly are these tomes? And as if there weren't enough audio hints in this trailer, it sounds like Yoda's voice can also be faintly heard here saying "Train, you will."
Or, here's another bit of speculation: could this bookshelf actually be on Dagobah instead?

This book is clearly very important to Jedi lore. But what is it? Could this be the famed Journal of the Whills, an ancient book that allegedly recounts the major events in galactic history? And whose hand is that? It's clearly gloved, so it's probably neither Luke nor Rey. Is it a pilot's glove?

If you had any question as to whether The Last Jedi would see Luke train Rey, then this shot should serve as your answer. This looks like Luke training Rey as she wields a lightsaber.

This could be a shot of a brand new planet to the Star Wars universe. According to previous interviews with The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, there will be a planet called Crait in the upcoming film, a mineral planet on the outskirts of the galaxy that will play a key role in the struggle between the First Order and the Resistance. The red dust kicked up by these ships (sadly, they're not podracers) seem to indicate mineral deposits, and with the preceeding shot to this show First Order AT-ATs in the distance, it seems like a fight is definitely on the cards here between the two forces.

Here's our first look at ex-Stormtrooper Finn, and it looks like he's still in pretty bad shape after the events of The Force Awakens.

Here's Poe Dameron and BB-8, running furiously through what seems to be a ship or base that's under some sort of attack.

In the next shot, it looks like our heroes are indeed in the dock of a ship in space. Things aren't looking good, however, with that explosion seemingly taking out Poe's custom paint job X-Wing.

And here's the Falcon, seemingly engaged again in combat within a planet's atmosphere. Who's flying this, we wonder? If Rey is training, could someone else be at the helm?

Is Rey running to a fight, or is this part of her training with Luke?

Fresh from committing patricide (woops, spoilers), here's Kylo Ren looking all pensive and rocking that facial scar he received from Rey in The Force Awakens.

This shot is likely a flashback scene to when the Knights of Ren destroyed Luke's Jedi training facility, which was the catalyst for him to disappear from the face of the galaxy in the first place.

Is that Captain Phasma leading those troopers? Looks like she survived that trash compactor she was supposedly placed in at the end of The Force Awakens.

These look like the new Nebulon-B escort frigates, but we're not quite sure where this battle is taking place. What is that planet in the background? UPDATE: We may have a pretty good guess as to what this planet is: could it be where the Resistance base was located in The Force Awakens?

The Resistance base was on a planet called D'Qar, and we noticed that in the last few frames of this shot, you can see an asteroid belt surrounding this green planet. And if you cast your mind back to The Force Awakens...

Here's a shot of D'Qar taken from The Force Awakens. Notice any similarities? So does this mean that The First Order manages to track down the Resistance base in The Last Jedi?

Did Luke really just say "It's time for the Jedi to end?" What happened to him during his long isolation? What type of man is he now? Also, this interior looks like the inside of a tree. Could this be definitive proof that the mysterious bookcase we looked at before is at the same place?

Pilot's Helmet In Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Teaser May Hide A Secret
Update: A post on EA's Twitter account may reveal what the mysterious symbol mean. According to the Star Wars script in the video below, the insignia may refer to the "Inferno Squad."
The fire ignites in one day. Watch the full #StarWarsBattlefrontII trailer tomorrow: https://t.co/vOtgWcF5v6 pic.twitter.com/gknXMAcEX1
— EAStarWars (@EAStarWars) April 14, 2017
The original story appears below.
We've all seen the leaked trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 , but a new teaser video released today could shed more light on the game's plot. Today's video shows a condensed version of the full trailer, leaked via Sony two days ago, right up until the end, when this new image appears:
The screen shows an imperial pilot, with a symbol of the Galactic Empire on the right of their helmet and a mystery symbol on the left. We've done some digging on Wookieepedia , and the symbol doesn't seem to have appeared anywhere in the Star Wars universe before. The screen also promos the event tomorrow, where the reveal trailer--the one that already leaked--will be unveiled at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando . There is speculation that the game's creators and Lucasfilm could actually show an extended trailer instead.
On Wednesday, the game's trailer was leaked via a Sony ad. It features a female soldier, narrating the video, sharing a bit of her story. "I still remember my last orders. The day the real war began," she says, likely a nod to the single-player campaign EA has been promising in this sequel to Star Wars: Battlefront .
In the leaked trailer, we also saw the imperial pilot with the mystery symbol, who also features prominently on the EA website . He or she is right in the middle of the last screen of the video, flanked by Daisy Ridley's Rey on the left (from the seventh Star Wars film, The Force Awakens) and Darth Maul on the right (from Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace).
It's a further nod to Battlefront 2's promise that the game will span multiple eras of Star Wars , and feature characters including Yoda and Kylo Ren as well, adding more mystery as to where this pilot fits in.
Of course, it could all be a nod to the upcoming film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While our imperial pilot is not featured in the trailer released today , the leaked Battlefront 2 trailer indicates those who preorder the game will get access to something called Star Wars: The Last Jedi Heroes. This sounds like a similar deal to 2015, when Star Wars: Battlefront got the Battle of Jakku DLC expansion after The Force Awakens hit theaters.
Our fingers are crossed we'll get the full story tomorrow at the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 panel, where EA and Lucasfilm are promising to reveal more details about the upcoming game. GameSpot is there at Star Wars Celebration, and we'll have full coverage of the event and the latest news about Star Wars: Battlefront 2 right here on our homepage.

One of fantasy’s biggest authors comes to Star Wars
Before The Force Awakens hit theaters, Lucasfilm prepared fans with a steady drip of books and comics under the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens banner, telling some of the stories of events between Episodes VI and VII. During Star Wars Celebration Del Rey announced that it would be running a similar campaign to lead up to The Last Jedi with a series of “Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi” titles.
An impressive group of authors will be writing the books. Most notably, Ken Liu , a Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy Award-winning author who’s considered one of the biggest up and coming names in genre fiction, will write The Legends of Luke Skywalker. Carrie Fisher Will Not Be In Star Wars: Episode 9, Lucasfilm Boss Says
Earlier this month, Carrie Fisher's brother said the late actress would be in Star Wars: Episode IX . At the time, he said Lucasfilm would use "recent footage" of the actress to put her in the film. Now, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has responded, confirming that Fisher will not be in Episode IX.
Kennedy confirmed this is an interview with Good Morning America, which airs on Disney subsidiary ABC. "Sadly, Carrie will not be in [Episode IX]," Kennedy said. You can watch the clip below ( via The Verge ).

Fisher will reprise her role as General Organa in this December's The Last Jedi. You will be seeing a lot of her in the movie, and she's great in it, Kennedy said in the interview. The first trailer for The Last Jedi was released today at Star Wars Celebration-- watch it here .
Kennedy mentioned in the GMA interview that the script for 2019's Episode IX was not written when Fisher passed away in December 2016. Fisher's brother, Todd, was "confused" regarding Carrie's appearance in Episode IX, Kennedy said.
Kennedy and Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow met in January 2017 to discuss Leia's role in the Star Wars universe going forward . Lucasfilm also confirmed that it would not use CGI to digitally resurrect Leia .
"Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family," the statement continued. "She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars."

New trailers: Star Wars, Thor, Dear White People, and more
Last weekend I watched Eight Days a Week, Ron Howard's documentary about The Beatles' touring years. It's a really enjoyable film with some great performance footage (turns out The Beatles were very good musicians), but what I really loved about it was the insight into ’60s culture on the periphery of it all.
The film was basically supplemental viewing for me, since I'm also watching through Man Men for the first time right now. In the spot I'm at — the middle of season five — music is increasingly being used to show the tension between adults of the ’50s and adults of the ’60s, and Eight Days a Week speaks to that on some level.
The documentary may be about The Beatles' members, but it also shows how the band gave people the chance to...

Star Wars Rebels Season 4 Will Be The Final Season
Star Wars Celebration took place in Orlando, Florida over the weekend, and amidst the excitement around the Last Jedi trailer and cameos from past and present films, fans also suffered some bad news when they learned that Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will be the final one.
Towards the end of the Star Wars Rebels panel, creator Dave Filoni stood up and spoke with the attendees about the future of the show: "It is my decision, as the creator of this show, that Season 4 is the final season of Star Wars Rebels. I firmly believe that each generation needs to have their own piece of Star Wars. I feel like this show, for a lot of kids growing up with it, is as much a part of Star Wars as any of the movies, and I really appreciate that love from you guys.
"I feel, creatively, that I can make this story, about these characters the most meaningful that it can be by arcing it to where I need it to get to at the end of this season," continued Filoni. "So, I know that's tough. It's tough for me. But believe me, I can say I know what it's like when I don't get to end a series. [laughs] What happens when you don't end a series is you end up making t-shirts and you have to prolong, and it wasn't as fun. So believe me, this show--by no means--represents an end to anything we're doing in animation."
The show Filoni worked on that ended abruptly was Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which ended in 2014. Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will air on Disney XD this fall.

Star Wars Rebels Trailer Is Epic, Warwick Davis Joins The Cast
Fans of Star Wars Rebels were treated to a rollercoaster of emotions at Star Wars Celebration today, which is fitting since the convention took place in the theme park capital of the world, Orlando. After hearing that Season 4 of the series would be the final one , convention goers at the Rebels panel on Saturday morning got to check out the first trailer for the upcoming season. Check it out below.
The cast of the show, who sat in for the panel, were relatively tight-lipped about what fans can expect from the upcoming season. There we still a few pretty big announcements from the panel though.
Forest Whitaker will show up as Saw Gerrera, a character who has appeared in the animated Clone Wars television series, as well as Rogue One. His appearance will help bridge the character gap and give fans a full arc.
In addition, Warwick Davis (Return of the Jedi) will be playing Rukh. The character is from the novel Heir to the Empire as Thrawn's assassin bodyguard. You can check out what his character will look like in the image below.
Tiya Sircar, who voices Sabine Wren, revealed the possibility of a familiar face from the Star Wars universe popping in for the next season: "If there are any Mandalorian fans out there, you will be happy with specific episodes this season. You might be surprised where we go and who... I'm very scared right now.... Who might show up."
The most famous Mandalorian in Star Wars lore is Boba Fett. There was no confirmation that this was the character who will show up, but it's tough to think of another Mandalorian during the Galactic Civil War.
Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will air on Disney XD this fall.

Star Wars: Battlefront II’s official trailer is all about the single-player campaign
Earlier this week a teaser trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront II leaked online , but here at Star Wars Celebration EA has revealed the real thing — and it includes quite a bit more than the leaked version. The centerpiece of the trailer is the single-player campaign, which focuses on an elite TIE Fighter pilot who is spurred to vengeance against the Rebellion after she sees the second Death Star blown to smithereens while on the forest moon of Endor.
It appears to be a darker take on the Star Wars mythos, putting the Empire in the heroic role most traditionally occupied by the Jedi or characters like Han Solo and Princess Leia. But the trailer also teases the expanded multiplayer version of the game, with Darth Maul, Rey, and...

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Release Date, Story Details Announced
At Star Wars Celebration today, EA announced that Star Wars Battlefront II will be released worldwide on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17 and is now available for preorder .
Battlefront II’s campaign will take place in the 30-year period between the end of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The story will follow protagonist Iden Versio, who leads an elite Imperial unit called Inferno Squad, and players will get the chance to play as well-known characters like Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren during the campaign.
According to EA, the campaign is developed by former Ubisoft Toronto head Jade Raymond’s Motive studio, and new characters have been created “in close partnership with the story group at Lucasfilm.” On stage at Celebration, Lucasfilm confirmed that Battlefront II's story will be canon within the Star Wars universe.

The full trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II has arrived. The reveal comes after a shorter version leaked last week , and there was also a brief teaser yesterday. Watch it above.
The trailer debuted at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando during the Battlefront II panel, which featured representatives from Criterion, Motive Studios, DICE, and Lucasfilm. As shown in the trailer, the game features heroes and situations from all eras of Star Wars canon.
Like the leaked version, the full trailer is narrated by Imperial commander Iden Versio and includes Darth Maul, Yoda, Luke, Rey, and Kylo Ren. This full version adds more action and more insight into Versio's character.
Star Wars Battlefront II is launching on November 17 for PS4 , PC , and Xbox One .

Electronic Arts takes the wraps off Star Wars Battlefront II
It’s time to head back to a galaxy far, far away. Electronic Arts and developers DICE, Criterion, and Motive revealed Star Wars: Battlefront II at the Celebration event for fans in Florida today. The game launches on November 17.
It was one of the poorly kept secrets of the week, as the Battlefront II trailer leaked a few days ago. EA followed up the leak with a release of a 30-second spot, teasing a longer trailer. And now, EA executives have described the game and released a full trailer.
With the single-player campaign, EA says you can “Forge a new path as Iden Versio, commander of Inferno Squad—an Imperial special forces unit equally lethal on the ground and in space. Encounter many of Star Wars ‘ greatest characters in a story of revenge, betrayal, and redemption that spans 30 years.”
The speakers from EA got huge applause when they walked on stage in front of the huge group of fans.
“It’s one of the most ambitious games EA has ever done,” said Matt Webster, general manager of EA’s Criterion game studio.
Bernd Diemer, creative director at DICE, said “What stood out for everybody is that anyone can be a hero.”
Above: EA developers from Motive and Criterion studios.
Paola Jouyaux, producer at Motive in Montreal, said that there is a new planet, a homeworld for Versio, with a variety of locations and urban environments. You can play a variety of characters, such as a Jedi. And you can step into the shoes of various iconic characters.
“You have more vehicles, more weapons, and more characters,” Diemer said.
You’ll be able to fight on the ground or engage in giant space battles. The game will span locations across all eras. You can join up to 40 players in multiplayer, and revel in deep class-based online gameplay. You can pilot a wide variety of land and air vehicles, and control iconic characters with distinct abilities that can turn the tide of battle.
Above: Fans at Star Wars Celebration.

One of the hallmarks of Battlefront is its promise that you can play anyone in the Star Wars universe. That seems to be the case, as you can see Rey and Kylo Ren from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Darth Maul from The Phantom Menace.
EA also says you can play as—and against—Star Wars’ most feared villains and cherished heroes from all three eras, including Yoda, Luke Skywalker, and many more. Each characters has unique, upgradable abilities ensure classic characters bring their distinct powers and personality to the battle.
And while the first game was a multiplayer title, Battlefront II will include a single-player campaign. The original Battlefront game came out in November 2015, and it sold more than 14 million units in its first six months.
You will be able to team up with a friend in two-player offline split-screen play on the consoles. And you will be able to earn rewards, customize troopers and heroes, then take your skills and upgrades to the online battleground.
EA says you can tailor unique abilities for each hero, trooper, and starfighter to gain the upper hand in battle with Battlefront II’s diverse and powerful progression system. The path to victory is yours to decide.
“These moments are truly your own moments,” Diemer said. “Nobody else will experience it exactly like that.”
Above: A novel based on Battlefront II
The game is clearly a bigger effort than the original, with DICE, Motive, and Criterion all contributing to it. You can pilot a First Order Tie Fighter in dogfights.
In the trailer, Versio says, when asked what her Stormtrooper squad will do now, “Avenge our emperor.”
“In Star Wars Battlefront II, we all wanted to really capture the essence of being heroic and how in Star Wars, anyone can become a hero,” said Webster, Executive Producer at Criterion. “Whether that’s playing as an iconic character like Rey or Luke, as a front-line trooper or fighter pilot in epic multiplayer battles, or playing through a new Star Wars story that bridges the gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you will become a hero in Star Wars Battlefront II.”
The story takes place in the 30 years between the destruction of Death Star II and through the rise of the First Order. The single player story introduces Versio, the leader of Inferno Squad, an elite special forces unit of the Galactic Empire, who are equally lethal on the ground and in space.
Above: Battlefront II

“EA has assembled an incredible set of developers to create a Star Wars gaming experience unlike anything fans have ever experienced,” said Douglas Reilly, Senior Director, Digital & Franchise Management. “Star Wars Battlefront II will offer everything players loved about the last installment, and adds new modes that we know the fans want, including an entirely new story developed in partnership with Lucasfilm.”
“We wanted to create a campaign that told a story we haven’t seen before in Star Wars,” says Mark Thompson, Game Director at Motive Studios. “It was important for us to tell a new authentic story, one that gives players a brand-new perspective. By putting players in the boots of an elite member of the Imperial forces, we can show them what the battle was like from the other side.”
Locations include Yavin 4’s jungle canopies, the spaceport town of Mos Eisley, and Starkiller Base. Players can choose from an array of land and air vehicles and master their own hero’s journey, with customizable character progression across heroes, villains, troopers and starfighters.
Additionally, when taking the fight to space, players can upgrade to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Millennium Falcon and a new First Order ship.
Star Wars Battlefront II will be available worldwide on November 17th, 2017 on PlayStation4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC . Players looking to get into the game earlier can do so with the Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition starting on November 14th, or through the Play First Trials on EA Access and Origin Access‡ starting November 9th.

It looks like 'Star Wars: Battlefront II' will ditch the Season Pass
Star Wars: Battlefront II's creative director confirmed something we'd been hoping for in an interview before today's announcement: there's no season pass for the game this time around.
Assuming things stay that way — and there's kinda-maybe-possibly a chance that they won't, as you'll soon read — it suggests that Star Wars: Battlefront II is coming together with an eye toward keeping the community whole long after the game is released.
That was a big problem with the first Battlefront from DICE, released in 2015. The multiplayer-only game felt sparse at its $60 launch price, but it slowly evolved over four post-release map packs, each priced at $15. A full year after its release, Battlefront finally felt complete. Read more...

A closer look at 'Star Wars: Battlefront II's single and multiplayer modes
Anyone can be a hero in the Star Wars universe.
If there's an overriding philosophy behind Battlefront II, it's that. From the "untold soldier's story" in the story mode to the new ways the game lets you level up your profile, the idea is to create opportunities for every player to feel like a star — at least some of the time.

'Star Wars: Battlefront II' reveals what happened after Endor this November
We already had a face thanks to the leaked trailer; now we have a name, a story, and — most importantly — a release date: Nov. 17.
As for the rest of it: the hero(?) of our new Star Wars adventure is Iden Versio, who leads the Imperial special forces unit known as Inferno Squad. This elite unit — which specializes in both ground and space battles — will also be the subject of a book in summer 2017.

The Battlefront II story picks up after the events of Return of the Jedi. The details remain hazy, but it sounds like Versio and her Inferno team manage to escape Rebel forces on Endor and re-connect with their Imperial brethren as the First Order — the Imperial remnant forces at the center of The Force Awakens — is born. Star Wars: Battlefront II makes the Imperials the good guys
When Star Wars: Battlefront was released two years ago, it received a lot of praise for the way in which it faithfully recreated props, vehicles, and worlds from the original film trilogy, but it took a hit when it came to the lack of a single-player campaign . With the sequel, EA hopes to change that, and this morning it offered a glimpse at what players can expect when Battlefront II arrives on November 17th. The single-player mode certainly looks like it will be heavy on narrative and world-building, but more importantly, it’s embracing a perspective that’s never really been tackled in the film series before: the point of view of the Empire.

Star Wars: Rogue One Sequel Novel Is a Battlefront 2 Tie-In
At Star Wars Celebration today, it was revealed that a previously announced Star Wars novel is actually a tie-in to Star Wars Battlefront II.
During the Battlefront II reveal panel , Christie Golden's novel Inferno Squad was revealed to actually be called Star Wars Battlefront II: Inferno Squad, which is currently
. Inferno Squad commander Iden Versio was revealed as the protagonist of Battlefront II, and the tie-in novel will follow, according to Golden, how the Imperial squad met, their first mission, and "how they learned to become this well-oiled machine," according to Golden.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Multiplayer Preview
Where Battlefront II’s new single player mode is attempting something different (both the mode and its content), the focus for the returning multiplayer component seems to be more about refinement. The last Battlefront got a lot right, but it also occasionally felt like gorgeous blueprints for something better to come. This could well be it.
Burnout creators Criterion have stepped in to take on the game’s vehicles and head up a much-requested new feature; a full space combat mode. While the first game’s baby steps into providing material from films other than the original trilogy have become a bold jump, this will be the first Star Wars game to include material from all three film eras (although Gungans have been studiously absent from the footage we’ve seen - make of that what you will).

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Single-Player Preview
All EA really had to do to make people happy with Battlefront 2’s single-player was announce that they had one. It was an obvious missing piece in 2015’s Battlefront, and in part because of that, I expected Battlefront 2’s campaign to play things safe and avoid overlapping with anything happening in the current films or presenting any challenging controversies of its own. I’m pretty sure I was wrong.
Check out the brand new reveal screenshots below - click right to see them all:
The campaign (which was co-written by Walt Williams, who wrote the highly-acclaimed Spec Ops: The Line) is set right after Death Star 2 explodes, and ends around the time that Starkiller Base does - a story ambitiously spanning almost 30 years. The “point”, according to contributing developer Motive, is to bridge the gap between the original trilogy and the current films, exploring what happens to an Empire without an Emperor. To do that, they decided to let players become the Empire, specifically in the shape of an elite Imperial Commander called Iden Versio, though there will also be segments that have you have you control Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Story Will Let You Play As Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren
Star Wars Battlefront II 's single-player campaign will include missions where you can play as Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren, among other heroes.
During the official Battlefront II panel at Star Wars Celebration, representatives of the teams working on the game confirmed that, while the story stars a new character, it will also include parts from other perspectives.
The new character, Iden Versio, is an Imperial commander, and the story is mainly told from the side of the Empire. But Game Director Mark Thompson of Motive Studios mentioned that switching perspectives from protagonist to antagonist is a staple of Star Wars storytelling as well as what makes Battlefront stand out, so the teams worked to include missions starring established heroes. It's currently not clear how many of these missions will be in the game.
Star Wars Battlefront II is launching on November 17 for PS4 , PC , and Xbox One . Be sure to check out our full feature on everything we know about Battlefront II so far, and don't forget to watch the full Battlefront II reveal trailer .

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Release Date Announced
Star Wars Battlefront II is launching on PS4 , PC , and Xbox One on November 17.
In a panel at Star Wars Celebration, representatives of teams working on Battlefront II--EA, Motive Studios, DICE, and Lucasfilm--revealed the release date alongside a full trailer .
Unlike 2015's Star Wars Battlefront , Battlefront II will feature "all eras" of the Star Wars canon rather than drawing only from the original trilogy.
Battlefront II also includes a canon single-player campaign set after the events of Return of the Jedi. It follows an Imperial commander named Iden Versio who swears to avenge the Emperor and quell the Rebellion, though it will include other perspectives . It also introduces a new planet, Iden's homeworld.
Battlefront II's multiplayer features trooper classes as well as an upgrade system for troopers and heroes, which allows for greater customization. Troopers will correspond to the era and location you're battling in, which means Clone Wars-era troops won't show up on Hoth. However, it seems heroes will be available regardless of era.
Preordering the Battlefront II will give you extra content, including Last Jedi-themed costumes for Rey and Kylo Ren. See the full list of preorder bonuses , including what comes with the deluxe edition.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Won't Have a Season Pass
Star Wars Battlefront II won't feature a season pass, developer DICE has confirmed.
Battlefront II creative director Bernd Diemer confirmed the absence of a season pass in an interview with Mashable . "We don't want to segment our community," he said with regard to why the team opted to forgo a season pass.
Upon looking back at how Battlefront changed over time following its launch in 2015 with the addition of DLC, Diemer said the team came to the conclusion that "for this type of game, season passes are not the best thing" and they need to "come up with something better."

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Everything We Know So Far
Though we've known about it for a little while now, we're starting to get actual details about Star Wars Battlefront II . We've compiled everything we know so far so you can keep track. Below, you can find all the important information, from news and videos to what you can expect in general.
Battlefront II follows 2015's Star Wars Battlefront , which featured characters and locations from the original trilogy only. Battlefront II widens the scope to include all eras of Star Wars canon in its multiplayer, and it also has a single-player campaign. It launches on November 17 for PS4 , PC , and Xbox One .
The Reveal Trailer
After a trailer leak and a brief teaser , we've finally gotten an official, full trailer for Battlefront II. Like the leaked version, the full trailer is narrated by Imperial commander Iden Versio and includes Darth Maul, Yoda, Luke, Rey, and Kylo Ren. This full version adds more action and makes it more clear that the story takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi.
Battlefront II FAQ
When does the game come out?
Battlefront II launches on November 17 for PS4 , PC , and Xbox One .
Is it canon?
Yes! The single-player story is approved and considered part of the official Star Wars canon by Lucasfilm.
When does it take place?
The single-player campaign picks up after the end of Return of the Jedi and covers the 30-year span between that movie and The Force Awakens. The multiplayer includes characters and locations from "all eras" of the Star Wars timeline.
What's the story about?
The single-player campaign stars Iden Versio, an Imperial commander who's seeking to avenge the Emperor following the destruction of the Death Star. Most of the story will be from the Empire's perspective, but there will also be missions where you play as established characters , including Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. It also introduces a new planet, Iden's homeworld of Vardos.
How does multiplayer work?
Multiplayer matches can include up to 40 players. The game features a class system for troopers, which can be upgraded as you play and customized for your play style. Trooper skins will change to match the era and location of battle for more authenticity.
The game will also bring back heroes, which can also be upgraded as you play and unlock abilities. The heroes confirmed so far include Darth Maul, Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Rey, and Kylo Ren. Mutliplayer will include characters from all of Star Wars canon, and it seems that unlike the troopers, their availability in battle won't be tied to that battle's place in the timeline.
What about vehicles?
Vehicles work the same way troopers and heroes do; they're upgradeable and customizable. There are more run-of-the-mill vehicles, like TIE fighters, as well as "hero ships," like the Millennium Falcon. There are also rideable tauntauns.
What comes with a preorder/the deluxe edition?
The Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition of Battlefront II includes a slew of bonuses for those who preorder. They are:
Access to play Battlefront II on November 14, three days earlyUpgraded versions of all four trooper classes (Officer, Assault, Heavy, and Specialist)Four epic ability upgrades--one for each trooper classInstant weapon unlocks and weapon modifications for each trooper classExclusive Kylo Ren- and Rey-themed looks, inspired by Star Wars: The Last JediEpic ability modifiers for Kylo Ren and ReyAn epic ability modifier for the Millennium Falcon
Preordering the standard version gets you the last three bonuses only. The standard version is $60, while the deluxe is $80.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Will "Address" Rey's Parentage, Director Says
Who are Rey's parents? It might not be too long until we find out the burning Star Wars question. This December's Star Wars: The Last Jedi will "address" Rey's parentage, director Rian Johnson has revealed.
Speaking on Good Morning America this week, Johnson said, "It's something that is absolutely going to be addressed." He was about to reveal more details, saying "it depends on..." but then he stopped himself from saying too much. Here's the clip:
EXCLUSIVE: @StarWars director @rianjohnson says Rey's parentage will absolutely be addressed in #TheLastJedi . #SWCO pic.twitter.com/wgupPzYDkB
— Good Morning America (@GMA) April 14, 2017
The Last Jedi will have lots of surprises and twists for fans, and Johnson said he wants to keep all of these secret until the movie comes out so viewers can find out for themselves.
"How we address [Rey's parentage] and how you feel about it and what happens with that is one of them," he said about The Last Jedi's secrets.
Last year, Rey actress Daisey Ridley teased that The Last Jedi may reveal who Rey's parents are . According to USA Today report , Johnson said the "deepening of familial themes" in the movie will play a "huge part" in the story, especially for Rey. This sounds like a reference to the question around who Rey's parents are.
The first trailer for The Last Jedi was released this week at Star Wars Celebration-- watch it here . Also at the show, we saw a new trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 , learned its release date, and a lot more. Check out GameSpot's roundup here to see all the big news from Star Wars Celebration.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 May Not Have Season Pass, But "Something Different" Instead
Like Titanfall 2 and Mass Effect: Andromeda before it, EA's Star Wars: Battlefront 2 may not have a DLC Season Pass. Creative director Bernd Diemer told Mashable outright, "We don't have a season pass," before going on to tease that EA is working on "something different" in this area instead.
"I cannot talk about the specifics of this, but we have something different in mind that will allow you to play longer, be [more] invested in the game without having a fragmented community," he said.
The fragmentation that Diemer is talking about relates to 2015's Battlefront and the DLC that was released through its own Season Pass. If you don't own the game's extra content, it means you aren't able to play with the game's full community of players, which in turn can make it more challenging to find a match.
It sounds like Battlefront 2 is taking steps to avoid a similar situation. He told Mashable that it's "dangerous" for the health of a game's playerbase when maps and modes are only available to those who pay money for them. In this situation, "The community is falling apart because there are simply not many people playing the different modes."
He added: "So we definitely want to avoid that. We don't want to segment our community."
"We decided on that, and it's one of those difficult decisions because it has so many implications all around," Diemer explained. "When we looked at the way Battlefront had evolved over its lifetime, with the DLC and everything, we decided, 'You know what? For this type of game, season passes are not the best thing. We need to [take it apart] and come up with something better."
For its part, EA said in a statement to Mashable that it is aware of the feedback from Battlefront as it relates to "live service plans," and it will announce plans for Battlefront 2 in due time.
"While we're not ready to confirm any live service plans just yet, what we can say is this we heard the feedback from our Battlefront community loud and clear," the statement said. "We know they want more depth, more progression, and more content. So we're focused on delivering that in every dimension of Star Wars Battlefront 2. We'll have more to share about our plans soon."
