Netflix Is Developing a Show Based on 'The Witcher'

Netflix is developing a new English-language drama series based on , the novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, but which most of you probably know thanks to the trilogy of role-playing games developed by CD Projekt RED.

"The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world," said executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown in from Polish production company Platige Image. "The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can't wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling."

Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of the series of books and video game adaptations, is like a medieval, Polish Batman, but with more sex. He goes from town to town, ridding them of demonic beings with his silver sword and a belt filled with magic potions. Somewhere along the way, he gets laid.

I know that sounds stupid, and most video games stories totally are, but is actually not a bad choice for a Netflix show. Yeah, it's just another fantasy thing, but there are also a lot of political turmoil and complicated characters along the way. Think , but with a sense of humor and a Slavic bent.

What I worry about is who the hell Netflix gets to play Geralt. By now, everyone knows him as he appears in the video game (long white hair, scarred, shredded), and more importantly, how he in the video game. Whoever Netflix gets, they better start studying voice actor .

It's also important to note that just because Netflix is developing a show doesn't mean we'll ever actually see it (remember when ?). A lot of stuff needs to happen before we actually get to binge on this.
