Pokémon Go launches Valentine's event hoping to lure loving players
Until 15 February, there will be a huge increase in duration of lures, up to six hours from the usual 30 minutes
Remember Pokémon Go? It’s still around, and now the smartphone game is celebrating Valentine’s Day with its latest in-game event.
Getting into the theme of love, perhaps the most exciting thing for Pokémon Goers is a huge increase in the duration of lures: the Pokémon-attracting devices will now last a whole six hours, 12 times longer than their standard 30-minute duration.

Pokémon Go gets Valentine’s Day event with a higher chance to attract pink pocket monsters
This Valentine’s Day, throw the flowers in the trash and cancel your reservations at that fancy restaurant. You and your significant other are spending this holiday with searching for virtual critters.
Niantic has revealed to GamesBeat that it plans to launch Pokémon Go’s first in-game event of 2017 for Valentine’s Day. This in-game special will begin today, February 8, starting at 11 a.m. Pacific time, and it will run through February 15 at 11 a.m. As part of the Valentine’s event, players will get a number of bonuses that will make certain monsters appear more frequently while also making certain items more effective than normal. This is the latest attempt by Niantic to keep its massive audience engaged and coming back to Pokémon Go, and it’s likely that this remix of the game’s existing content will help generate revenues for the game, which continues to make enough to have a spot in the top-10 highest-grossing apps in the $36.6 billion mobile-gaming industry.
Here’s a point-by-point breakdown of what you can expect:
Double candy when catching, hatching, or transferring Pokémon. Buddy Pokémon will find twice as much candy. Pink Pokémon like Chansey, Clefable, Porygon, and more will appear more often. Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum are more likely to emerge from hatching eggs. Lure Modules will also attract Pokémon for 6 hours instead of 30 minutes.
So call up your date, and let them know that true love means helping your partner grind out those last dozen Charmander candies.

Pokemon Go Valentine's Day Event Begins Today
Pokemon Go 's first event of 2017 kicks off today to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Players will receive various bonuses by playing over the next week. Catching, hatching, and transferring Pokemon will net you twice as much candy as usual, while your buddy Pokemon will find candy in half the usual time.
Additionally, "adorable pink Pokemon" will show up more frequently. A comprehensive list of what fits this bill wasn't shared, but we know Porygon, Clefable, and Chansey are definitely on it. Meanwhile, while hatching eggs, you'll be more likely to obtain a Cleffa, Smoochum, or Igglybuff.
Finally, Lure Modules will be far more effective than usual, lasting for six hours--12 times as long as the usual 30 minutes they're active for.
All of this begins today, February 8, at 11 AM PST. The event runs until next Wednesday, February 15, at the same time.

Pokémon Go is having a big Valentine's Day event — here's everything that's happening
Niantic
Pokémon Go is having its first big event of 2017, celebrating Valentine's Day with a slew of perks for players.
Those perks include more of the all-important "candy," a higher chance of capturing pink Pokémon, plus a more powerful Lure Module. It's all in the spirit of the holiday.
Here are the details, taken from Pokémon Go developer Niantic's blog.
From February 8 at 11 a.m. Pacific to February 15 at 11 a.m. Pacific: "Players will receive double the amount of candy when catching, hatching, and transferring Pokémon." "Buddy Pokémon will find candy twice as fast for their trainers." Lure Modules, which attract Pokémon, will last for six hours instead of 30 minutes. Love is in the air, it seems. You'll have a higher chance of catching pink Pokémon, including Chansey, Porygon, and Clefairy. Similarly, pink baby Pokémon like Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum — three of the newest additions to the game — will have a higher chance of hatching from eggs.
Pokémon Go isn't quite the fad it once was. But in January, the app analytics firm Sensor Tower reported that the game had passed $1 billion in revenue in the seven months since its July launch, which is no small feat. Big events like this stand to bring players back into the fold and bump up that revenue even further. And countries like South Korea are only now getting the game , making this a welcome rolling out of the red (or pink) carpet for new players.

Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day Event Offers Double Candy
Niantic has announced a new Pokemon Go event for Valentine’s Day.
Beginning today and running until February 15, players will receive double candy when catching Pokemon, hatching Pokemon from eggs, transferring Pokemon to the Professor, or finding candy with a buddy Pokemon.
Pink Pokemon including Chansey, Clefable, and Porygon will have an increased chance of spawning, and players are also more likely to hatch baby Pokemon including Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum. Lure modules , which normally last 30 minutes, will last for six hours during the event.
This is Pokemon Go’s fourth holiday event, following increased chances of meeting ghost Pokemon for Halloween , double experience for Thanksgiving , and free egg incubators for Christmas .
