Why the final season of 'Girls' is a heartbreaking must-watch
Mark Schafer/HBO
I'm under no illusion that I can easily convince someone who has never watched "Girls" to tune in now that the HBO show is about to air its series finale on Sunday.
But I know the show has lost some viewers over the years — and I get why — and this is my appeal to those viewers to come back on board for season six.
Every season, I approach "Girls" having prepared myself to be annoyed by Hannah (Lena Dunham) and her similarly self-obsessed friends. There's clueless Marnie (Allison Williams), who's obsessed with becoming famous, and has left a trail of broken hearts along the way. And self-destructive Jessa's (Jemima Kirk) antics were starting to get really old. And when were they going to realize that Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) was the smartest person in the crew?
I have been greatly surprised and moved by this season, though. Here are the reasons you should you come back to watch the final season of "Girls":
1. It needed to end, and it's finally get an end that solves a lot of issues. Mark Schafer/HBO
When it comes to the group's storylines, a final season was the best thing that ever happened to the show. Growing up was the solution to all of the most annoying parts of the show and its characters flaws. And "Girls" is pulling off the bandage swiftly and painfully.

2. It will break even your cold, cynical heart. Mark Schafer/HBO
The show isn't going for happy endings. As in real life, the distance created between friends and lovers can sometimes be insurmountable. And while the show speeds over time in the 10-episode final season, it doesn't try to patch up those problems to give us warm, happy feelings. There are revelations and friendships will end. You'll be consoled with the knowledge that the world doesn't wrap everything in bows. In the case of "Girls," we get a tattered plastic shopping bag.

3. The writers and producers will earn back your respect. Mark Schafer/HBO
Whether executive producers Dunham, Jenni Konner, and Judd Apatow and their team of writer/producers always knew where these stories would end isn't the important part. What matters is that it feels like they did, and they're executing this season so well and so appropriately. You may have been put off by past offenses, but this season makes up for all of that. In this case, the end does justify the means.

Star Wars Rebels Trailer Is Epic, Warwick Davis Joins The Cast
Fans of Star Wars Rebels were treated to a rollercoaster of emotions at Star Wars Celebration today, which is fitting since the convention took place in the theme park capital of the world, Orlando. After hearing that Season 4 of the series would be the final one , convention goers at the Rebels panel on Saturday morning got to check out the first trailer for the upcoming season. Check it out below.
The cast of the show, who sat in for the panel, were relatively tight-lipped about what fans can expect from the upcoming season. There we still a few pretty big announcements from the panel though.
Forest Whitaker will show up as Saw Gerrera, a character who has appeared in the animated Clone Wars television series, as well as Rogue One. His appearance will help bridge the character gap and give fans a full arc.
In addition, Warwick Davis (Return of the Jedi) will be playing Rukh. The character is from the novel Heir to the Empire as Thrawn's assassin bodyguard. You can check out what his character will look like in the image below.
Tiya Sircar, who voices Sabine Wren, revealed the possibility of a familiar face from the Star Wars universe popping in for the next season: "If there are any Mandalorian fans out there, you will be happy with specific episodes this season. You might be surprised where we go and who... I'm very scared right now.... Who might show up."
The most famous Mandalorian in Star Wars lore is Boba Fett. There was no confirmation that this was the character who will show up, but it's tough to think of another Mandalorian during the Galactic Civil War.
Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will air on Disney XD this fall.

'Star Wars Rebels' to end with 'darker' Season 4
This will be a day long remembered: it marked the end of the Rebellion. Sort of.
Lucasfilm announced here at its Star Wars Celebration event that its only current TV show — the animated series Star Wars Rebels — will come to a close at the end of  season 4.

Over the final 15 episodes, the story of the crew of the Ghost, who gets pulled into the wider rebellion, will reach a conclusion that was apparently always planned.
What remains to be seen: given that the Ghost was seen briefly (and its pilot Hera namechecked) in Rogue One, will the finale take us into an animated version of the battle of Scarif?  Read more...

Star Wars Rebels is ending with its fourth season
During the Star Wars Rebels panel at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando Florida, show creator Dave Filoni announced that the show would be coming to an end at the end of the upcoming fourth season.
During the panel, Filoni revealed that the show would come to an end at the end of the coming season. “Seeing the evolution of this family, [and] these kids, and watching them get older, as a creator of a story I think of these things. I think about where we are going, and what the characters need to go through,” he said. “This is where I have to tell you that Season 4 is the final season of Star Wars Rebels.”
He went on to note that the decision was one that he made, noting he wanted to make sure that the show goes out on a high note, getting...

Star Wars Rebels Season 4 Will Be The Final Season
Star Wars Celebration took place in Orlando, Florida over the weekend, and amidst the excitement around the Last Jedi trailer and cameos from past and present films, fans also suffered some bad news when they learned that Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will be the final one.
Towards the end of the Star Wars Rebels panel, creator Dave Filoni stood up and spoke with the attendees about the future of the show: "It is my decision, as the creator of this show, that Season 4 is the final season of Star Wars Rebels. I firmly believe that each generation needs to have their own piece of Star Wars. I feel like this show, for a lot of kids growing up with it, is as much a part of Star Wars as any of the movies, and I really appreciate that love from you guys.
"I feel, creatively, that I can make this story, about these characters the most meaningful that it can be by arcing it to where I need it to get to at the end of this season," continued Filoni. "So, I know that's tough. It's tough for me. But believe me, I can say I know what it's like when I don't get to end a series. [laughs] What happens when you don't end a series is you end up making t-shirts and you have to prolong, and it wasn't as fun. So believe me, this show--by no means--represents an end to anything we're doing in animation."
The show Filoni worked on that ended abruptly was Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which ended in 2014. Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will air on Disney XD this fall.

184 d ago The Verge :: Star Wars: Battlefront II makes the Imperials the good guys
Read on The Verge | Share | Tweet

When Star Wars: Battlefront was released two years ago, it received a lot of praise for the way in which it faithfully recreated props, vehicles, and worlds from the original film trilogy, but it took a hit when it came to the lack of a single-player campaign . With the sequel, EA hopes to change that, and this morning it offered a glimpse at what players can expect when Battlefront II arrives on November 17th. The single-player mode certainly looks like it will be heavy on narrative and world-building, but more importantly, it’s embracing a perspective that’s never really been tackled in the film series before: the point of view of the Empire.
A team-up between EA DICE, Motive Studios, and Criterion Games, Battlefront II will let players...

206 d ago Mashable'Star Wars Rebels' finale: Watch Thrawn throw down
Read on Mashable | Share | Tweet

Star Wars Rebels wraps up a strong third season this weekend — and a long-anticipated showdown between Imperial and Rebel forces is here.
The season introduced the Empire's Grand Admiral Thrawn, a fan favorite character from old Star Wars novels known for his enlightened strategic cunning. Thrawn tends to win his battles with brain, not brawn.

But in this clip from the Rebels finale, exclusive to Mashable, Thrawn shows he's not above using fisticuffs when necessary.
The Grand Admiral discovers a Rebel spy in his own ranks — Agent Kallus, an officer who has adopted the codename "Fulcrum" once used by former Jedi padawan Ahsoka Tano.  Read more...
